The elevated postprandial TG concentration was thought to be an independent risk factor of metabolic diseases. However, it is still unclear how postprandial TG concentration affects postprandial hemorheological parameters. Moreover, exercise prior to a high-fat meal reduces postprandial TG concentrations. However, the effect of exercise on postprandial hemorheological parameters is not investigated. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the effect of a high fat meal, an acute exercise with and without energy replacement, and different types of exercise on postprandial hemorheological parameters by 2 separated experiments. In the first study, 9 healthy male volunteers completed three two-days trials in a random order. On day 1, volunteers either rested (CON), or completed 60 mins of walking at 50% of VO2max on treadmill (EX) or completed the same exercise with energy replacement using glucose drink (EXG). On Day 2, volunteers consumed an oral fat tolerance test meal (OFTT) after an overnight fast and rest for 6 h to observe hemorheological parameters. In the second study, 8 healthy male volunteers completed three two-days trials in a random order. On day 1, volunteers either rested (CON), or completed 60 mins of walking at 50% of VO2max on treadmill (EX) or completed 60 mins of resistance exercise at 64% of maximum repetition (RE). The postprandial TG concentrations were significantly reduced on endurance exercise trials in both experiments (P=0.018 and 0.029, separately). The postprandial blood viscosity and LDL-C concentration fell slightly on 2 experiments (main effect of time, P<0.05) with no difference among trials. The red blood cell deformability and aggregation did not change over the six hours postprandial period among all trials in both experiments. In conclusion, there were no relationships between postprandial TG responses, blood and hemorheological parameters. Sixty min of moderate endurance exercise reduced postprandial TG concentrations but it did not affect the postprandial hemorheological parameters. Further research is warranted to investigate the long-term exercise training and high dietary fat intakes on haemorheological changes. Yi-Liang Chen Ching-Lin Wu 陳益良 巫錦霖 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 85 zh-TW
