Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 體育學系 === 103 === The purposes of this study were to understand the differences of the current situation and the factors between the participation motivation and the social support of the athletes of the national secondary schools. Furthermore, it also discussed the circumstances related to the various variables involved in motivation and social support. This study took the athletes in the national secondary school sport events in 2015 as the participants, and the collected literature review built the study’s main structure. “The questionnaire for participation motivation and social support for national secondary school athletes” was prepared as a research tool, and adapted the stratified random sampling as an investigation method. A total number of valid samples were 603, and the SPSS20.0 statistical software was implemented for analyzing and processing the data. The finding of this study were as following: First, the status of the participation motivation and the differences had five factors, and the order of priority was: “health needs” had the highest importance, followed by the “skill needs, “accomplishment needs”, “social needs,” and the least importance was given to ”psychological needs”. There were five factors for the status of social support and differences, and the order of priority was: “coach support” had the highest importance, followed by the “teammate support”, “teacher support”, “peer support”, and lastly, the least important was “family support”. Second, there were significant differences in the variables of different personal background for participation motivation from the national secondary school athletes, such as, “gender”, “current school grade”, “education level of parents”, “items of sport expertise”, and “hours of training per week.” There were significant differences in the variables of different personal background for social support, such as, “gender”, “current school grade”, “items of sport expertise”, and “hours of training per week”. Third, the higher the participation motivation of the athletes of national secondary schools, the higher the social support was.
