The Reliability and Validity of Part II of Functioning Scale of the Disability Evaluation System – Child Version in Youth with Physical Disabilities

碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 身心障礙者轉銜及休閒教育研究所 === 103 === Introduction: In corresponding to the promotion of International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF), the ICF-based “Functioning Scale of the Disability Evaluation System - Child Version (FUNDES-Child)” was used in the disability evaluation for youth with physical disabilities. The current disability evaluation system adopts the FUNDES-Child 7.1 version. However, the reliability and validity of FUNDES-Child in youth with physical disabilities have not yet been established. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of the Part II of FUNDES-Child (participation independence and frequency ) in youth with physical disabilities. Methods: This study included 30 youth with physical disabilities 13.0-17.9 years old with their cognition within normal range. We used the FUNDES-Child proxy version to interview with the parents of youths and used youth version to interview with youths. Parents were interviewed the second time within 1-2 weeks. The reliability was examined for both the proxy and youth versions by Cronbach’s alpha for the scores of whole scale and four domains of Part II of FUNDES-Child. The Intraclass correlation coefficient, ICCs(3,1), was used to examine the test-retest reliability. The convergent validity was examined by the correlations between the scores of four domains of Part II of FUNDES-Child and the scores of participation intensity of CAPE-C by using Pearson’s r. The difference in scores between the proxy and youth version was examined by ICC and paired t-test. Results: Cronbach’s alpha for participation frequency of whole scale and each domain in youth version of Part II of FUNDES-Child ranged between 0.45 to 0.81, participation independence ranged between 0.65 to 0.92, and Cronbach’s alpha for participation frequency of whole scale and each domain in proxy version of Part II of FUNDES-Child ranged between 0.59 to 0.84, participation independence ranged between 0.73 to 0.88. For test-retest reliability, the ICC for participation frequency of whole scale and each domain in proxy version of Part II of FUNDES-Child ranged between 0.52 to 0.85, participation independence ranged between 0.75 to 0.90. The correlations between scores for FUNDES-Child and CAPE-C were not significant, showing that two scales measure different constructs. The results of ICC and paired t-test showed that scores for the four domains of Part II of FUNDES-Child for youth version and proxy version had good consistency. Proxy version has higher score in participation frequency and independence , but two version did not reach significant difference (p>0.05). Conclusion: The findings showed the FUNDES-Child has acceptable internal consistency and test-retest reliability. FUNDES-Child with CAPE-C do not have convergent validity. Scores obtained from youth and proxy version were consistent. The establishment of reliability and validity of Part II of FUNDES-Child will have implications for professionals in evaluating daily participation of youth with physical disabilities.
