Description
Summary:碩士 === 文藻外語大學 === 華語文教學研究所 === 103 === This research aims to explore how to apply whole language principles to student questioning in online tutoring, and the teaching effectiveness via the application. The author’s teaching introspection is also included. Qualitative case study methodology was employed for a 20-hour online TCSL tutoring experiment. The research subjects were one teacher, and one Japanese and one US student from the MTC Online of NTNU’s Mandarin Training Center. The tutoring platform and the teaching material were the Adobe Connect and the Daily Chinese II (B). The author first made a questioning transcription from the class videos, and compiled a data analysis and assessment table using Ou Yung-sheng (1995)’s 6W content analysis method. The literature review and the teaching experiment analysis showed that teachers who realized the Schema Theory and human brains’ meaning-seeking operation could better apply whole language principles to questioning. The aforesaid table and the students’ performance showed that the principles can achieve teaching effectiveness. Also, students’ conceptualization in questioning covered the general ideas and details of tutoring, accounting for why tutoring topics should be the starting point to apply the principles. The students were also found quite able to use the principles in their questioning during word guessing. In the last class, the students stated that the course was not stressful and that the teaching method enabled them to learn Mandarin properly. The whole language principles applied to online tutoring questioning have been proven effective in teaching.
