Summary:碩士 === 育達科技大學 === 休閒事業管理系碩士班 === 103 === Reading competence determines one’s international competiveness. A person well-equipped with reading competence facilitates autonomous learning. Therefore, advanced countries invest great effort into fostering children’s reading competence. Likewise, Taiwan has launched a series of national reading programs to promote residents’ reading competence since 2001. As a result, the publishing industry of children’s literature propers and the sales run up year after year.A child’s reading habit is established in the family. Therefore, reading education must relate to parent engagement. Parents play an important role in implementing children’s reading practice. They must make selections among a vast amount of children’s material for their children. Among these resources, children’s magazines specifically provide periodical reading material, convenient mail service, and a wide range of contents. Children’s magazines embody feature reports, stories about emotion management, essential information access, fiction, prose and relevant pictures. These features enable children’s magazines to be one of the best choices among children’s reading material. This study aims to analyze selection factors to subscribe children’s magazines according to experts’ opinions. Finally, based on findings, this study constructed an objective selection standard as reference for parents to select various kinds of children’s magazines in the market. To meet the above objective, this study conducted literature review, modified Delphi Method and AHP. Based on related literature, it constructed a theoretical framework and developed 4 principal criteria and 17 secondary criteria through modified Delphi Method. Then, AHP questionnaire of “Selection factors of children’s magazines” was designed. After calculation of hierarchical analysis, as to principal criteria, the score of “cultivation of multiple capacities” is the highest; as to total criteria, the top six are “enhancement of children’s life knowledge and capacity”, “learning of interpersonal and living attitude”, “learning of celebrities’ stories and allusions”, “learning of current events and trends”, “increase of knowledge of popularization of science” and “enhancement of international view”.
