According to statistics of Tourism Bureau, MOTC, the people’s average travel days in each trip are 1.5 days and the major type of travel is family trip. In recent years, birth rate of Taiwan is low. With the influence of fewer children, the parents pay more attention to parent-child relationship and interaction. Family trip is one of the measures to enhance parent-child relationship. Children are the subjects of parents’ investment. It triggers the development of child industry and business opportunities. Before winter and summer vacations of elementary schools, the websites of hotels promote parent-child travel and lodging. The hotels actively provide facilities and services for children in order to attract the parents.
This study aims to probe into key lodging factors of elementary school students’ parents in parent-child travel, in order to propose suggestions and develop strategies for elementary school students’ parents and travel industry in planning of parent-child travel. They can serve as directions of operation and management for hotels. In order to accomplish the goal, this study adopts literature review, Modified Delphi Method and AHP. By literature review and modified Delphi Method, this study constructed a theoretical framework and established 5 dimensions and 21 criteria. An AHP questionnaire was designed on “lodging selection factors of elementary school students’ parents in parent-child travel”. The AHP results showed that among the 21 criteria, the top 6 are Safety and hygiene, Household income, Room price, Feature cuisine, Past experience and Budget allocation; the last three are type of hotel, Hotel brand image and Media advertising. Finally, based on the results, the suggestions are proposed for elementary school students’ parents, travel industry, hotels and future researchers.
