Both researches are conducted by an experimental method, to investigate the consistency of physical attractiveness (high/low) and dress style affect ones perception of status and competence. The only difference is the observee’s gender. The first research is about male. The second research is about female. They are the 2X2 factorial experiment. The results of the first research and the second research were as follows:(1) No matter male or female, the consistenct dress style has significantly affected the perception of status and competence to others; furthermore, inconsistent dress style has greater effect on perception of status and competence compared to consistent dress style.(2) No matter the gender of the observee is male or female, physical attractiveness has significant effect on perception of status and competence to others; furthermore, low physical attractiveness has a greater effect on perception of status and competence compared to high physical attractiveness.(3)When observee is a male, interactions between physical attractiveness and dress style have obvious influence on the perception of status and competence to others. In the condition of high physical attractiveness, inconsistent dress style has higher perception of status and competence compared to consistent dress style. In the condition of low physical attractiveness, inconsistent dress style to others has not much difference on the perception of social status and competence to others. (4) When observee is a female, the interactions between physical attractiveness and dress style have obvious influence on the perception of status to others. In high physical attractiveness status, inconsistent dress style on the perception of status and competence to others is significantly higher than consistent dress style on the perception of social status and competence to others.
