Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 企業管理系 === 103 === The current production of eggs in Taiwan is sitting at an average of 90,000 a day. These eggs are sold on the market in a variety of forms. The common ones we see are unprocessed, boxed eggs, and boiled eggs as well as liquid eggs that have been manufactured for other usage. With the rise of modern technology and transportation system, the time required to spent on transportation from south to north has been greatly shortened. This contributes significantly in helping manufacturers supply across the entire nation. “There is not yet anyone who is able to ship out more than five thousand boxes of egg in Taiwan each day,” stated one of the manufacturers. This suggests that the egg industry is currently in a warring states period. Recently, large scale corporations and farms have decided to create their own brand and compete in the supplying market. Many chain-‐restaurants have no choice but to purchase or even sign the contract directly with the farm to reduce cost of production. This, without a doubt, threatens the wholesalers and accelerated the competition. Some wholesalers were even forced to participate in cross region competition and price cutting wars, which sacrificed the possible profit made to stay in the business. In order to further understand the challenges that wholesalers have encountered and the development of strategies and future trends in the industry, three interviews were conducted with industry wholesalers. They were selected in accordance to their size and ability to intergraded. Through the opinion and perspective of the industry wholesalers and the strategic matrix analysis suggested by Seetoo, Dah-Hsian.
