The new dc/dc quasi-resonant boost converter can convert low dc voltage to high dc voltage for renewable energy conversion. Since the voltage gain of the traditional boost converter is low, and the low dc voltage wants to boost to supply for inverter which needs a high voltage gain boost converter. Therefore, a new quasi-resonant boost converter with high voltage gain is proposed for having low input dc voltage. The proposed converter uses one switch to achieve high voltage gain, and has simple structure, low voltage stress and low output ripple. A digital signal controller (dsPIC30F4011) is used for control duty cycle that can reduce the complexity of the electronic component. Finally, the proposed converter is verified with a 500 W, 27-45 V input, and 155-240 V output prototype converter. Keywords: high efficiency, high voltage gain, boost converter.
