For the optimal design of gear profile, the presssure angle, root fillet, and addendum are chosen as design parameters. The object is to minimize the contact and bending stresses during operations. Taguchi method is used to carry out the optimal design. The results show that combined finite element simulation and Taguchi method, the minimum stresses of the gear among different sets of design parameter can be found.
