The reduced frames need to provide enough strength to carry the loads. The frame has a square cross section. Two dimensional model is constructed first to simulate the loading and verify the accuracy of result. The strain gage is attached near the location of maximum stress on frames to measure the strain during the loading. Then three dimensional model for frames of the trolley is constructed to perform finite element simulation. The accuracy of the simulated results is verified by the strain measurement. From the result of simulation of the original model ,the stress of frames are under the yield strength. In order to reduce the weight, the cross sectional area of frames as well the density of material is reduced. Finite element method is then performed to simulate the stress distribution of reduced model.
