The population are based on the six junior high school students which implementation of swimming teachin g in Yunlin .To survey by cluster sampling which choosing one class form seventh to ninth grade students in those six schools. The resea rching samples are 463 and the e ff e c t i v e samples a r e 3 9 1 . The following study results are verified by Chi-square tes t 、Pearson product-moment correlation coeff i c i ent 、and Regression A n a l y s i s . 1 . 94.88% of those study subjects have par t i c i p a t i n g swimming activi t i e s , a nd 23.02% of th em just have one time per six months. It’s rather high in proportion to swimming ability (46.03%), which can pick up object twice and stand up after k i c k i n g - w a l l - f l o a t i n g f o r 3 m e t e r s . 2 . There is high corre lation between the study s u b j e c t s ’ health and swimming exper ience, and also between the he a lth and the frequency of swimmin g . 3 . The signi f i c a n t negative correlation is among th e frequency of swimming、t h e swimming ability , a nd the perceived risk(including social、menta l 、and injury risk). The significantly positively cor r e l at i o n i s b etween the teacher support and he frequency of swimming, and also between the swimming ability and social support(including f r i e n d s 、t eacher 、a n d f a m i l i e s ) . 4 . The frequency of swimming and the swimming ability can be negative predicted by social and menta l r i s k . The conclusions of this study are summarized as followings: Both social support and perceived risk have significant impact in the swimming participation. That means when t he perce i ved risk higher, the frequency of a c t i v i t y p a r t i c i p a t i o n w i l l be reduced. In addition, when t h e p e r c e p t i o n i s c e r t a i n l y i n v o l v e d i n a c t i v i t i e s , n o t o n l y be increased the frequency o f p a r t i c ipat i o n , b u t a l s o t h e swimming ability.
