| Summary: | 碩士 === 元智大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 103 === In recent years, domestic medical negligence cases occur frequently, highlighting the feature of high risk in the process of medical care. Medical care concept based on patients to facilitate patient safety and improve care quality becomes the issue each medical institution values most, in which promotion of tube safety is one of annual job objectives for domestic patient safety recently. Patients who suffer from severe respiratory failure must be supported by placement of artificial endotracheal tubes and mechanical ventilator for a living. As a result, maintaining tube safety is one of the basic and the most important works in intensive care unit. This study aiming at the event of unplanned extubation of endotracheal tube for intensive care unit of regional teaching hospitals explores demographic characteristics and extubation scenario for further root cause analysis. The results show that medical care personnel reinforce protective physical restraint and sedative treatment SOP to put them into practice, remove tube as early as possible and place warning signs at the patient unit, which can effectively decrease the occurrence of unplanned extubation of endotracheal tube.
