Dialogue of leisure and labor: the experience analysis of work exchanging in Taiwan legitimate hostels

碩士 === 元智大學 === 社會暨政策科學學系 === 103 === In recent years, working holiday is a popular way of traveling, and working exchange is another form of working holiday, that workers pay with their labor to exchange guesthouse owners provide foods and room. For this study, to clarify the research questions are: First, explore the workers' motivation to exchange, understand why they wish to leave the original life, and go to a strange place to work. Second, discuss that during learning process, what setbacks or difficulties encountered, and how to deal with it. Third, understand what the workers learn and gain during exchange process. Fourth, to discuss work exchanging for positive and negative impacts to hostels.In this study, using semi-structured interviews, researcher interviewed with 10 exchanger workers and 3 guesthouse owners. The study found: exchange workers’ motive divided into five categories, namely, is subject to influence others experience respectively, rest is to take a more long-term way, the pursuit of adventure and self-realization, seeking to identify, explore themselves; wage change places common problem is working time and content of some of the gap with the imagination; work to change places were mainly harvested in the local meet people from around the world and experience the local life; and finally, guesthouse owners think positive impact was mainly caused by workers who change places vitality, representing no negative impact.
