To improve this parking problem, parking tower, one of the mechnic parking facilities, has become the preferred option, because it is simple in operating, convenient for cars to drive in and out, and many cars can be parked at the same time only use a limited land, reached a "highly land utilization" Although current planning and designing of parking tower has refered to construction law, building technic regulations, the Fire Services Act and electric appliances setting rules, but the existing norms of the parking tower may not be in full compliance with the actual needs of the building, it is importaant that parking tower design must be considered with effective fire prevention and control strategy mechanisms in order to reduce similar fire disaster. This paper aims st Taiwan's first fire case of a parking tower in Taipei City for fire study. use FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) developed by NIST for simulation. According to the data obtained from internet and printed media, the numerical model is erected for simulation.To explore the high temperature, the concentration of carbon monoxide and air layer height changes in fire scene, and then changing the model set parameters, such as changing the fire location, increasing the smoke detectors, adding sprinkler and exhaust equipment during simulation in order to find the effects of changing parameters on fire; fire disaster assessment, fire extinguish and rescue tactical skills has also discussed. The simulation result might be a reference for parking tower’s fire prevention planning and engineering design in the future in order to reduce casualties and loss of property of persons.
