碩士 === 元智大學 === 應用外語學系 === 103 === 　The “Butlers” have been a well-known role in theJapanese popular culture; however, there is few researches discussed about it. Different from the traditional English butlers, the Japanese butlers keep the traditions of its origin and improved itself to a different level. Therefore, the paper focuses on the butlers in Japanese popular culture and analyzed the butler-themed works and the role of butlers in the popular Butlers caf#westeur042#, and further explains its transformation. 　After introduced in Japan, the butlers in Japanese popular culture have been implanted with Japanese unique spirits. Hence, the paper analyzes the role of butlers through the Japanese unique Bushido spirits and its aesthetic sense and then finds out the Japanese elements within the butlers. The paper discusses the spirit and the Japanese-ness within the butlers according to the blogs of the butlers from the Butlers caf#westeur042# and the butler-themed works, including “Black Butler”, “My Handsome butler” and “Nazotoki Ha Dinner No Ato De”. By comparing the butlers in the various works, the paper examines the relevance and effects between the butlers and deliberates the transformation of the butlers after they are introduced in Japan.
