Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理學系 === 104 === This qualitative study aims to explore the changes of role perceptions of junior high school teachers in Taiwan. Through purposive sampling, seven junior high teachers participated in the study. The data were collected by in-depth interview and recording. The scripts were encrypted and then, based on hermeneutic phenomenology, analyzed through thematic analysis method. Five important themes were found in the data: (1) the awareness of being a teacher in early years, (2) multiple roles of a teacher, (3) the difficulties from dealing with parents and students, (4) the frustrations from the change of educational trend, (5) the real condition in the classroom. The result shows that when teachers are not the only authority in the educational system, they are not respected by students as well as trusted by parents as before. Thus, teachers need to adjust their attitudes and enhance their communicative skills to rationally cooperate with students and parents. On the other hand, teachers also need to keep learning new theories and latest teaching methods to catch up with the educational revolutions happening every couple of years.
