Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 企業管理學系 === 104 === ABSTRACT Firefighters needs to cope with any types of disaster, working hours are long and serve as quick reaction force on call for 24-7,work stress is enormous.The main purpose of this study is to explore the relevance of work stress and job satisfaction of frontline firefighters; Secondly ,analyzing the differences of background variables on their work stress and job satisfaction. In this study, the questionnaire survey methods are adopted. The sample was distributed of 261 frontline firefighters of Miaoli Fire Department. 261 questionnaires were delivered and obtained 236 valid samples(93.28%). The scale factors of work stress includes “the work itself” “the internal factors of the organization ” “the external factors of the organization” “personal factors”.The scale factors of job satisfaction includes ,salary, the content of the job, the opportunity of raising, supervisors, colleagues etc. All analysis of the data collected is computed by the Statistical Program for Social Science program.Research methods such as Project Analysis, Reliability Analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s method, regression analysis are adopted. The results are as follows: 1.The major origin of the work pressure of the frontline firefighters comes from “the work itself”, while “the external factors of the organization”is the least. 2.The major origin of the job satisfaction of the frontline firefighters comes from “the wage”,while ”relationship among colleagues”is the least. 3.The location of their brigade and wage of firefighters results in the conclusions of work stress differs significantly . 4.The location of their brigade results in the conclusions of work satifiction differs significantly . 5.The predicted analyze result of firefighter’s job stress and job satisfaction , the overall job stress is predictable and cause negative impact : While the work itself and self-related factor can predict the overall job satisfaction the most. According to the study, the authority concerned should pay more efforts on the firefighters work stress of the job essence factor to elevate their job satisfaction. The work stress and job satisfaction of Miaoli Firefighters result in a negative correlation. When the work stress is high the job satisfaction will reduce . We suggested to cope with the work’s factor and personal factor, to design a course of stress management for firefighters, to boost the morale of firefighters. Hereby, the research is dedicated for the National Fire Agency for a reference to management and application and a beacon for further researches.
