Previous studies have shown that positive leadership behaviors can affect work engagement; however, we know little about the impact of servant leadership. In order to fill this gap, this study aims to explore how servant leadership influence on teachers’ work engagement in junior high and elementary school, and consider trust toward colleagues as a mediator in the relationship between servant leadership and work engagement. A sample of 570 teachers in junior high and elementary school in Taiwan were collected through the survey condocted by this study. The empirical results show that: 1. Servant leadership has a significantly positive impact on work engagement. 2. Servant leadership has a significantly positive influence on trust toward colleagues. 3. Trust toward colleagues has a significantly positive impact on work engagement. 4.Trust toward colleagues is a mediator between servant leadership and work engagement.   Finally, according to the findings, this study was made some recommendations for practices, as well as suggestions for future research.
