Smartphone addiction can ensue from Mobile Apps. This research investigates the relationship between smartphone addiction and family background, basic personal information and personality traits of students from five vocational high schools in the regions of Wufeng and Dali. Among 625 students, 583 questionnaires are recovered. The research results are illustrated as follows: First, the result reveals 28.82% of students are addicted to their smartphones. The majority is in second grade, and the proportion of boys is more than girls. Those who engage in leisure and entertainment for more than 7 hours a day show obvious smartphone addiction. Secondly, the students who spend more time in studying present lower proportion of smartphone addiction. Those who are on line for average more than 4 hours per day show higher percentage of addiction. Compared to non-addicts, addicts prefer to use online video. Finally, children of parents with master degrees addict to smartphones less likely than whose parents have education level of elementary schools. Concerning personality traits of students, there are substantial correlation to Good-natured、Self-discipline、Neurotic and Introvert or Extrovert.
