| Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 管理學院碩士在職專班 === 104 === In 2007, owing to the global warming and the rising oil price, the energy-saving concept begins to grow in the people’s minds, inspiring them to save energy and save the earth. Not too far, the 2009 international financial tsunami resulted in the growing needs of bikes in the emerging nations, then making the global sales of bikes increased obviously. Besides, many countries built bike-riding circumstances one by one, promoting and encouraging the public to ride bikes and perform subsidy measures at people buying bikes, all of these attributed to the apparent global needs of bikes.
This study gathered the financial reports data of earning power, debt-paying ability, and operation ability of Giant Bicycles and MERIDA from 2009 to 2014. Then we compared the differences among the 11 financial ratios(Gross profit margin, Operating profit ratio, ROE, ROA, EPS, Quick ratio, Debt ratio, Current ratio, Receivables turnover ratio, Inventory turnover ratio, and Fixed assets turnover ratio). Based on the empirical results of Independent-Samples t Test, we could know Gross profit margin and EPS of Giant Bicycles were better than MERIDA, showing that Giant Bicycles still had the advantage of being the leader of the bikes. While the Operating profit ratio, ROE, debt-paying ability, Receivables turnover ratio, Inventory turnover ratio, MERIDA was better than Giant Bicycles, meaning that it is possible for MERIDA to catch up with Giant according to good performance.
