Due to people being infected with H. pylori suffering a higher risk to develop gastric precancerous lesions, the WTO has classified H. pylori as a group 1 carcinogen in stomach cancer. Eradicating H. pylori infections can help to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers and can prevent gastric cancer. Hence, it is of crucial importance to have easy, fast and economical testing systems that detect H. pylori infections accurately and help to accelerate the therapy decision making of the physicians. Based on the bacteria’s innate capability to produce Urease, Urease Activity Tests (CLO-Tests) serve as a highly important instrument to diagnose H. pylori infections in patients. This research uses commercial CLO-Tests from two different manufacturers (ASAN and IF) and compares their sensitivity levels at varying bacterial colony counts and temperatures. The results of this research show that the commercial CLO-tests from IF (IF Helicobacter Test) at a colony count of 5×105 CFU/mL needs 16 hours at room temperature and only one hour at an incubation temperature of 37°C to detect infections with H. pylori, thus illustrating the high sensitivity of the IF Helicobacter Test.
