Even the rates are not high in Taiwan, the mortality rate is very high (95%). In the United States, pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of death. In Taiwan pancreatic cancer is the eighth leading cause of death. In addition, the over-all five-year survival rate is just about 4%. Most pancreatic cancers have been the advanced stage and have spread to other organs after diagnosis, so the chemical drugs and surgery removing are necessary. Compared to breast cancer and colorectal cancer, drug treatment results of pancreatic cancer patients are not obvious. Therefore, to build up a fast and effective analysis platform for studying drug inhibiting proliferation ability of pancreatic cancer cells will be helpful to improve treatment effect of pancreatic tumor. This study used optical tweezers to analysis optical force of pancreatic cancer cells to understand the effect of drugs on the pancreatic cancer cells. First, we measured the optical force of pancreatic tumor cells. Then we distributed several drug solutions of different concentrations, to observe the effects of drugs on optical force of pancreatic tumor cells. This method can be used for rapid screening of anti-metastasis drugs, and drug effects on pancreatic tumor cells.
