Summary: | 碩士 === 佛光大學 === 文化資產與創意學系 === 104 === This thesis is conducted to probe into the relationship between Yu-Tian Nuon Shi (Yu-Tian Lion Playing) and the local community culture, ceremony, and its change over time. With the emphasis on preservation of cultural assets, the research examines how the styles of performance relates to the development of the community and to the local culture. Data was collected from multiple sources: structured interviews with participants of Yu-Tian Nuon Shi (Yu-Tian Lion Playing), participant observation, and documentary evidence of Yu-Tian Nuon Shi. Yu-Tian Nuon Shi (Yu-Tian Lion Playing) originates from Yilan, Taiwan. Its folkloristic art, with hundreds of years’ history, was established by the local people and flourished. With the changes through the ages, Yu-Tian Nuon Shi (Yu-Tian Lion Playing) has encountered difficulties passing along the techniques to the next generations. Therefore, this distinctive folkloristic art which is a valuable cultural asset is dying out.
This thesis is a collaboration of the cultural asset of Yu-Tian Nuon Shi (Yu-Tian Lion Playing) folkloristic art, traditional culture, and community development. Furthermore, it discusses the potential for transition from within to outside of the community. By finding the differences from the similarities and broadening its horizon, this local culture- Lion Playing and Lion Battle-, not only could transform the culture into an asset, but also assist Yu-Tian Nuon Shi (Yu-Tian Lion Playing) to thrive again.
