The researcher conducted a survey using a self-developed instrument, "The Taipei Youth Park Recreational Sports Participating Motives, Behavioral Involvement and Recreational Benefits Questionnaire" to collect data. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed with 366 valid questionnaires returned (926.5%). The collected data were analyzed by the statistical software package SPSS 20. The results were as follows: (a) most of the participants were office workers; the "Health Promotion" motive and "Psychological Benefits" factor had the highest scores; most subjects participated in recreational sports 1-2 days per week for 1 hour each time, spending less than NT$ 3,000; (b) married people’s motive on "Health Promotion" was significantly higher than that of singles with an opposite result found on the "Expanding Social Network" motive between the two groups; subjects aged 31-40 had significant higher levels on "Improving the Quality of Life" and "Fulfilling the Sense of Achievement" motives than those aged 61 and above; students and subjects from industrial and commercial occupations scored significantly higher than housemakers and those having higher educational degrees had higher levels of "Improving the Quality of Life" and "Fulfilling the Sense of Achievement" motives; (c) most of the male, single, 21-60 years old, industrial, commercial and service occupations employed, or college educated with a yearly income of more than NT$ 700001 subjects spent 2 hours in recreational sports; (d) subjects who were married or aged 41-60 years old had a significantly stronger perception on psychological benefits than those who were unmarried or aged above 61 years old; subjects with a college degree or earned NT$ 700,001 annually had significantly higher perceptions on both physiological and psychological benefits; (e) there were significant differences on perceptions of psychological and social benefits among subjects from different behavioral involvement categories; subjects spending 2 hours in recreational sports each time experienced more psychological benefits; and subjects spending more than NT$ 15,000 reported significantly higher perceptions on the physiological, psychological and social benefits; and (f) the greater levels the participating motives of the subjects the stronger perceptions yielded on the recreational benefits.
