Description
Summary:碩士 === 華梵大學 === 中國文學系碩士班 === 104 === China is worthy of the repute “State of Rites” as Rites has been used to purify the folkways and educate people since time immemorial. The system and concept of Family is highly positioned in the traditional structure, and family education is considered as the “Foundation of Country”. There is a saying that the foundation of the world is countries; the foundation of country is families and the foundation of family is individuals, which fully explains the relations among individual, family and country. Therefore, both royalties and civilians have highlighted family education and valued family functions since Zhou Dynasty. The ancient family education was the education of behaving. Morals and ethics were practiced in life through the education of rites, and the spirit of rites was rooted in people’s mind through the cultivation in family, the education in school and the country-governing in society. The Book of Rites recorded all the rites of living and behaving in lifespan, and Rites were followed in all the milestones of life. As time changes, Rites are still the crucial rules of behaving in modern society. Meanwhile, Rites play an important role in family education nowadays. The relation between individual and society is balanced based on the spirit of Rites, and the family functions are revised and re-valued through the family education of Rites in elementary schools. In The Qu Li in Book of Rites, family education was extremely diverse including parental duties education, filial duties education, ethics education and gender education. The dimensions from self-cultivation, daily regulations, manners of dealing with others and family ethics, to the practice of life, are worth referring for current family education in elementary schools. The thoughts inherited and learned from Qu Li in Book of Rites are practiced and promoted in the family education in elementary schools, which not only accords with the development of moral cognition in the modern education, but also carries the torch of ancient wisdom of education. It’s also expected that the beauty of traditional family ethics can be developed and a harmonious and polite society can be reformed in the future.
