This paper adopts the acquirer’s M&A events of Taiwanese high-tech industry from 1998 to 2013 as the sample. The empirical results show that the technological relatedness between acquiring firm and target firm on rival firms' innovation performance is U-type of non-linear relationship. The argument of the influence of prior alliance was not found in this study. The absorptive capacity would accentuate the technological relatedness between the acquiring firm and the target firm on rival firms' innovation performance.
