However, free Access Points are vulnerable to Internet security problem, especially the problem of Rogue Access Point (RAP). Existing solutions to the RAP problem are mainly for medium and large scale firms. Security problem challenging individuals and small firms are still left to be solved.
In this research, we proposed a mechanism to detect and prevent RAP attacks. In the proposed mechanism, AP has to sign first message through the Public-key Cryptography so that identity validation could be provided and authentication could be ensured in real time.
