碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 文化創意產業系 === 104 === 　　Guogou village is a tranquil village with genuine and warm-hearted residents, and a sincere and respectful culture which has a long history. A cleansing ceremony is held to explore the relationship between the religion and the residents who worship there. We will discuss the Jiande Temple, the main temple of Chiayi’s Guogou township, where the supreme deity is Prince Li. There is a folk tale of Jiande Temple known as the “Huo Deng Ye Xun”, which involves a ceremony of intangible assets. We first introduce the culture and lifestyle of the residents of Putai, Chiayi, as well as their environment and industry in order to further understand the history and social fabric of the Jiande Temple, and then thoroughly analyse the effects of the Fire Lamp Night Patrol ceremony on the values of the local society, and the significance of the event. Furthermore, we analyse how purely regional beliefs develop into intangible cultural assets and combine with the cultural policies of the temple, and stimulate community integration and development. Also, this article will through the discussion of the Firelight Nightwatch event and temple ceremony, also help to further increase the understanding and awareness of Chiayi’s Jiande Temple Fire Lamp Night Patrol festival.
