Because National Health Insurance just can provides the limited basic supporting which can not satisfy the needs of aged society, the market of commercial health grows up rapidly while the medical claim rate remains high. Thus, the insurance company may not correctly evaluate the risk of the insurant in the market of the commercial health insurance, which even may induce the problems of Adverse Selection. This study mainly analyzes the incidence rate of claims from the personal health insurance in the insurance industries. By using the regression analyses, we can see which factors have significant relationships with the claims of health insurance. These findings can be the reference for the insurance companies’ operation and for the authorities’ supervision. This study targets the 186,715 approbation and claims-related data of the permanent life health insurance from the life insurance company C during the period from January 2011 to December 2015 and makes an empirical research. By using the descriptive statistics and the Logistic Regression model, the study probes the connection between the variables (such as gender, age, the payment type, the physical examination type, the occupational type, the residential area, and the amount of insurance) and the incidence rate of claims. According to the empirical results, the physical examination type, the amount of insurance, the payment type and the occupational type of the permanent life health insurance from this company have significant relationships with the incidence rate of claims. Therefore, this study suggests controlling these variables may contribute to decreasing the implying problems of Adverse Selection in this company’s insurance contracts.
