Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 外國語文學系所 === 104 === The 21st century is the era of technology. Obviously, human beings cannot do without the convenience of technology nowadays, such as smart phones and internet. Yet does advanced technology bring progress or regress to human beings? When human beings invent electronic goods, will the developing technique help us or control us gradually? Indeed, there are a lot of examples in terms of technology and human cloning, e.g. A.I. Artificial Intellgence (2001). There are also relevant literary texts, e.g. Snow Crash and Darwin’s Radio.
In addition to literary works and movies, museums have become places which convey the “post-human” concept through a wide range of exhibitions. Male or female artists are trying to put their abstract thoughts into concrete art forms. And technology-enhanced exhibitions are displayed to the audiences in the museums. Therefore, I would analyze Future Pass and “Body, Gender, Technology” Digital Art Exhibitions through John Berger’s Ways of Seeing and Walter Benjamin’s “The Work of Art in the Age of Its Technological Reproducibility.” Then, I would analyze objectified female body due to the power of mass media.
When technology meets art, what kind of spark will it cause? And why is digital art popular in Taiwan? Living in the digital world, technology is everywhere in our everyday live. Art no longer just repeats the footsteps of their predecessors. Artists are seeking to break through the traditional limitations and standard.
