It was found that junction temperature significantly affected the performances of an AlGaInP yellow-color vertical structure power chip LEDs. When the forward current was increased, the light output of an AlGaInP power chip LED was also increased. Emitting wavelength of AlGaInP power chip LED increased with forward current increment. It was found that the emitting wavelength, forward voltage and luminous flux of an 1AlGaInP power chip LED were dependent very much upon the junction temperature of the LED. In this way, the emitting wavelength was redshifted, the forward voltage was decreased and the luminous flux was dropped for an lightened AlGaInP power chip LED as time passed.
