Three kinds of probiotics were used; Calsporin, a strain of Bacillus subtilis (B), and mixture of B with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Ba-BPD1 (M). Calsporin is a strain of Bacillus subtilis developed by Japanese. The B strain of Bacillus subtilis and Ba-BPD1 were developed entirely in Taiwan. Animals were randomly allotted into 7 groups: Control (Con), Flavomycin (F, 2 ppm), Calsporin (Cal,0.1%), B. subtilis high dose (BH,0.1%), B. subtilis low dose (BL,0.05%), mixture of B. amyloliquefaciens and B. subtilis in high (MH,0.1%) and low dose (ML,0.05%) respectively. Broilers were grown with dietary supplementation of probiotics up to 6 weeks and layers were fed from 30-50 weeks of age. Results showed that all groups treated with probiotics improved market weight in broilers (7.2% on average) as compared with control group albeit no statistical significance, in which group BL (14.5%) and MH (10%) had better body weight gain than other groups. Group MH showed an increase in the ileal population of coliform as compared with control group (P <0.05). No significant differences in the cecal population of lactobacteria, coliform and bacillus among all groups were observed. The villus height of duodenum was higher in all probiotic groups than that of control (P <0.05). In layers, ML group had better performance in egg production rate and egg weight than all the other groups (P <0.05). The haugh unit was higher in group Cal and BL than that of control (P <0.05). The phagocytic activity from peripheral heterophils of all probiotic groups was higher than that of control broilers and L2 layers. In respiratory burst of heterophils, a significantly greater activity of respiratory burst in heterophils was observed in ML and MH group of broilers and L2 layers respectively (P <0.05), but no significantly difference of intestinal immunoglobulin A and G (IgA and IgG)level were found among the treatments in broilers. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens has a positive effect on productive performance of broilers and layers. In this study, ML group has the best effect on egg production and quality of L2 Taiwan country chicken layers and BL and MH group have better effect on growth performance of broilers. 陳洵一 陳靜宜 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 62 zh-TW
