The architecture of this thesis contains driver circuit design, controller design, communication interface design, and implementation with PID controller and variable structure controller for demonstrating the feasibility of the developed system. This work implements a low cost, powerful, small size, and user friendly servo control system by integrating an embedded controller, driver, DC motor, and necessary feedback interface. The servo control system has a PIC microcontroller as the control kernel, the control and communication program are built in the program memory. Motor driver uses high-efficiency TI dual full-bridge driver, it can drive two DC motors under two groups of 7A simultaneously. The designed servo control system has universal serial interface to receive command comes from master computer, such as RS232/422, SPI, and I2C protocol. The developed servo system is benefit to DC motor or robotic control system. The experimental results demonstrate the developed servo control system achieves high performance, high efficiency, small size and low cost.
