The purpose of this study is to increase the accuracy of testing results with sonic echo (SE) method and complex continuous wavelet transform. In-situ tests of piles, with and without pile caps, were perform to compare their results. Six pre-cast piles with different types of defects, except for one, were tested. Pile caps were then installed on top of the six piles. The amplitude spectrum and phase spectrum from time-frequency analysis were employee in the process of complex continuous wavelet transform analysis. The result shows that, combining complex continuous wavelet transform with sonic echo method, the estimation of wave velocities and defect locations are fairly accurate for piles without pile cap. However, despite being more complicated, wave velocities and most of the defect locations can still be determined by this method in cases of piles with pile cap.
