Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 中國文學系 === 104 === This paper discusses the development process of the Hsieh Family in Tainan and the literary activities of its family members. The life course of the family of Hsieh Shih-wei (1836-1896), which is the sixth generation of the Hsieh Family, is taken as the focus of this paper, including Hsieh Shih-wei, Hsieh You-wo (1869-1926), Hsieh Chiun-wo (1871-1889), Hsieh Shih-chiu (1879-1921), Hsieh Si-chiu (1892-1959) and Hsieh Guo-wen (1887-1938). This paper explores how the Hsieh Family in Tainan responded to the alternations of political power and the society context during the Qing Dynasty, the Japanese colonial period and the post-war Taiwan. In addition, this paper also presents the literary societies and activities that the Hsieh Family had participated and further analyzes the characteristics and implications of their works. This paper is divided into six chapters: Chapter 1, Introduction; Chapter 2, The Rise and Success of the Hsieh Family; Chapter 3, Business Transformation and Participation in Local Affairs of the Hsieh Family—Focusing on Hsieh Chiun-wo; Chapter 4, Participation in Political and Social Activities of the Hsieh Family—Focusing on Hsieh Si-chiu and Hsieh Guo-wen; Chapter 5, Literary Activities of the Hsieh Family; Chapter 6, Conclusion.
