Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立體育大學 === 管理學院 === 104 === An Investigation into Park Users’ Perceived Conflict to Pet Dogs── Urban Park in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City as a Case Study Abstract As the number of urban citizens who use park to do dog walking increases in recent years, the possibility of conflicts between dog walkers and other users may also raise. The present study aims at an investigation into the extent of conflict about pet dogs between park users.Taking Vaske (2007)’s study on “socio-economic context,” “pattern of using,” “belief of activity,” “extent of conflict,” and “type of conflict” as my methodology, the questionnaire is designed and randomly distributed to users of Urban Park in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City from May 2nd to May 15th in 2016, during which 393 copies of effective questionnaire are retrieved and analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent-sample t test and one-way ANOVA.In my analysis, educational level, career, marital status, and age are respectively decisive to the extent of consent to belief of activities related to pet dogs, while educational level, career, marital status, age, average monthly income, purpose of park using and experience of dog-keeping are decisive to the extent of conflict over pet dogs’ activities. The extent of conflict obviously varies among different types of conflict over pet dogs according to 13 related questions, based on which “conflict caused by interpersonal relationship and social value” is far more explicit than “conflict cuased by social value” or “conflict caused by interpersonal relationship” alone. In conclusion: a.) “family activity” causes the highest extent of conflict among purposes of park using. The management unit should improve the said situation positively by rearranging sections for activities, expanding spaces for pets’ activities, and monitor the conflictive relationships between sections. b.) “The untreated dog excrement” is the major cause of conflict, which indicates the keepers’ sense of responsibility need to be enhanced with multiple forms of propaganda. c.) Due to the unsolved dog excrement problem, it is suggested that several spots offering dog waste bag can be set in the part to prevent untreated dog excrement.
