The study’s arrangement of picture books in teaching activities was originated from the background that the researcher was confronted with a predicament in teaching in class. The study takes 30 children aged from 5 to 6 studying at a kindergarten attached to an elementary school in Kaohsiung City as the research targets. The researcher devised a 12-week japanese-picture-book-assisted teaching course. The study was completed through a series of research processes, including the observed records of children’s learning, data accumulation and analysis, feedbacks from the parents, discussion, revision of the extension teaching activities, … etc. After that, the study has drawn some conclusions as follows: 1. After receiving japanese-picture-book-assisted teaching of life education, the children were able to make the meanings contained in the picture books melt in and presented in their life experience at the kindergarten and at home. 2. Japanese-picture-books-assisted education and extension activities could effectively increase the children’s growth in their life education, and could help the children practice life education in their real lives. 3. After japanese-picture-book-assisted teaching was carried out, the children have improvement in the review of life education, and in their conduct and performance in their life education at home and life education at kindergarten. 4. The arrangement of the roles and backgrounds in the stories of the japanese picture books made most of the children like the japanese picture books very much. Finally, based on the above research results, and focusing on the kindergarten teachers, various types of kindergarten, the related children’s education institutions, children’s parents and those who are interested in involving in similar studies, the researcher proposes some concrete suggestions for picture-book-assisted teaching, the software and hardware of teaching materials, and parental education of parents.
