Of this topic, there are many studies in our country, the sewing machine operators exposure to a huge risk of musculoskeletal injuries, but there are few literatures to explore these workers. Therefore, this study will investigate the musculoskeletal disorders problems of sewing machine operators. 169 sewing machine operators were recruited to complete the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ), and the questionnaire included personal physical data (age, height, weight), work-rated information (seniority, working hours, standing up times) and the nine body parts of musculoskeletal discomfort. The top four body parts with the highest prevalence of musculoskeletal discomfort are neck (57%), shoulders (62%), upper back (54%), and lower back (63%). The majority of the symptom is sore and pain of the body parts, and the prevalence are over 90%. The main factors of musculoskeletal discomfort of awkward work posture for the operators are looked down, trunk forward, shoulders lifting, and the height of table/chair of choosing in a prolonged sitting position. It’s suggested that ergonomic intervention of increase breaking time, choosing suitable working table/chair and training muscle endurance to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal discomfort.
