碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 諮商心理與復健諮商研究所 === 104 === The main purpose of this study was to explore the spiritual growth and self-transformation experience of the helper and the mutual relation between spiritual growth, self-transformation and helping work. The participants consisted of three profession helpers who are now engaging in helping work and have experienced the spiritual growth and self-transformation. The researchers adopted the narrative research. With the “holistic- content” analysis, narrative research was applied to analyze three stories of the helpers who have experienced the spiritual growth and self-transformation, and made a comprehensive discussion. Conclusions of this research were as the following: First, due to life issues, the helpers were on the way of experiencing the spiritual growth and self-transformation. Personal personality and the major event in childhood developed life issues of the participants. These life issues unbalanced and impacted their life. When they faced their life issues, they longed to seeking true self. Furthermore, in the process of the spiritual growth and self-transformation, the participants used multiple ways of the spiritual growth and self-transformation to face their life issues. Through different approaches of the spiritual growth, they had different spiritual experiences but there was sameness within the difference. Finally, because of spiritual growth and facing the personal issues, the participants advanced in different stage of self-transformation. In addition, the experience of the spiritual growth and self-transformation made the helpers vary their style of helping work. In the experience of the participants, life issues made they meet the challenge in the process of helping work. But because of the experience of the spiritual growth and self-transformation, the participants had higher awareness to rise to the challenge, regarded the spirit as important and led the client to contact the spirit, developed the personal method to self care and energy supply, enriched their elements of the helping work, and kept appropriate boundary with the client. Besides, the researcher found out the conditions of seeking the own way to develop the spirit among longing for growth, life chances, and space-time conditions. In addition, in the process of the spiritual growth, facing the personal issues would avoid the blind spot of the spirit search. At last, the researchers offered some comments for the spirit seeker, the helper and future research.
