The purpose of this study is to investigate the reasons for the formation of grandparenting families, the self-interpretation of mutual interaction between grandparents and grandchildren, and how they act for the school life of learning, routine rules, and the inter-personal relationship. Three pairs of samples were grade-2 students from one of Nantou elementary school and their grandparents. In order to understand the interviewees’ thinking, the case study is a process of interview, data collection, and analysis. Finally, some conclusions were as the followings: (1) The main reason for the formation of grandparenting families was “divorce”. (2) The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren based on surveying self-interpretation of mutual interaction was good and harmonious. (3) The difficulty of grandparents on grandchildren’s school study was offering no guidance on their homework. The solutions were asking for the assistance from school teacher, and sending the grandchildren to after school care centers (4) The difficulties of grandchildren on school study were getting no help with their homework at home and having trouble in doing Math assignment. The solutions were asking for classmates’ or teacher’s help, and looking for the answers from the textbook. (5) The difficulties of grandparents on grandchildren’s routine rules were their absent-minded attitude in class and slow response to their teachers. The solutions were reminding grandchildren to pay more attention and listen to teachers. (6) The difficulties of grandchildren on routine rules were being unfamiliar with the new environment and punished by teachers because of fighting with others. The solutions were self-adaptation and asking for teacher’s help. (7) The difficulties of grandparents on grandchild’s interaction at school were their naughty behaviors and getting badly along with classmates. The solutions for grandparents were teaching grandchildren how to control their emotion and smoothing away their bad emotion. (8) The difficulties of grandchildren on the inter-personal relationship were fighting with others and difficult to get along well with classmates. The solutions were asking teachers’ help and trying to enjoy doing the things they liked. According to the results, suggestions were proposed for grandparents, grandchildren, educational organizations, and the future researcher.
