Therefore, more and more elementary schools participate in the experimental projects to breach the bottleneck of declining fertility rate,to give vitality for school, and to strive for educational choice of parents. The subject of this study is a new ideal school in Pingtung County. Through case study reseach,interview and document analysis, this study investigates principals’ curriculum leadership and development of school curriculum, factors and difficulities of principals’ curriculum leadership. Based on the results, related effect of curriculum leadership on ideal school has been gained and been provided to be a basis of development of ideal school in the future. The major findings are listed as follows: 1.The principal of this school in the case study leads school team to carry out curriculum development through democratic leadership. He makes use of philosophy of education of “conceptual throughts” to operate the school and to blend into local culture to build students’ self-confidence. Entering the village actively makes a positive connection between the village and the school. 2.Factors of affecting principals’ curriculum leadership in the school are employment of teachers, teachers’ professional development, recognition of school team members, suggestions of village, and promotion of students’learning effect. 3.The principal in this study operates school curriculum leadership positively when facing difficulties, but he has to reduce external interruption to spare no effort to develop curriculum. The school has an excellent reputation for good teachers, advanced teching facilities, and fine public relationship. 4.Promoting ideal schools in Pingtung County can improve the effect on originality and development of curriculum in the county. Based on the results, it is hoped that the present study may provide educational authorities and future studies with some workable suggestions related to principals’ curriculum leadership and development of ideal school.
