| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 中國與亞太區域研究所 === 104 === The right for International discourse in China has been suppressed for a long time. In recent years, however, China has begun to participate actively in the international community. Presenting itself as the representative for the developing countries, China tries to influence the rules and development of the international organizations. As a result, China joins the international organizations in pursuit of the right for international discourse and increases its worldwide influence. They will be able to make their own decisions on major policies, while restricting the hegemonic powers. Through this effort, China will not only enhance its international status, but also pursue internal construction environment and consider the participation as a primary means to promote the reform of the international community by fighting for the interests of developing countries.
In this paper, I take World Bank, The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for examples. Through these three different types of international organizations, which were set up to explore each own purpose and background, we can find out how China increasingly gains the world’s attention and enhances its international discourse to exert influence in the international community.
To enhance the international discourse, the international organization has not only become an international platform for China to convey its discourse, but more importantly, China can establish the international agenda and shape its national image. Participating in the international organizations is good for China to gain recognition, and influence the setting of the international agenda of these organizations, making their international issues of interest, and advocate for more attention and support. At last, China can achieve its advantage of the international discourse, and finally win the superior rights.
