Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北護理健康大學 === 護理研究所 === 104 === The improvement in life standard and medical technology extended people’s life and also was associated the aging of population structure. In the end of 2014, the senior citizen in our society accounted for 11.99%, indicating that Taiwan is witnessing the era of the aged. The number of Taiwanese aborigines, a vulnerable nation, is about 540 thousand, 2.3% of the total population, among which the senior is 6.6%. At present, there is few study on indigenous elderly. The aim of this research is to understand the hope, social support and life of quality of indigenous elderly, compare the disparity in hope, social support and life of quality among indigenous elderly of different groups, and analyze the correlation among these factors. This research is a cross-sectional survey targeting the senior of aborigines care station in New Taipei City. There are totally 9 aborigines care stations in seven administrative districts of New Taipei City. Except that the chairman of one care station worried about the overwhelmed mental stress of the senior due to large number of questions, the others are willing to be surveyed. Therefore, 8 care stations are confirmed to be target sites, and all members of the sites target objects, with 161 personal agreements. The result finds out the basic attributes of indigenous elderly include that female is more than male, most married, average age 66.3, principal education status primary school, 70.2% retired, mainly self-relied in economy, and the majority thinks they are in good health condition and live with family. Between hope and main carer is a significant difference in statistics, in which the difference of self-cared is significantly larger than that of family-cared. Among the basic attributes, only personal perception on their own health condition is in significant positive correlation with social support statistically (r=.188, p<.05), that is, the healthier they think they are, the better social support they possess. Therefore, we can learn from this study that the senior who mainly take care of themselves, live with family members or think they are in good health condition obtain higher hope. It is found out in this study that there is disparity in social support among different age groups, the support of aged 65-74 higher than that of aged 55-64. Life of quality is in significant negative correlation (r=-.187,p<.05) with marriage status in statistics, the quality of female significantly higher than that of male. It is also in significant positive correlation with education, personal idea about their own health condition, health history and current working status in statistics. The correlation between hope and social support is 0.498(P﹤0.01), between hope and life of quality 0.748(P﹤0.01), and between life of quality and social support 0.650(P﹤0.01), all significantly positive in statistics. The direct effect of hope to social support is 0.73, hope to life of quality 0.54, social support to life of quality 0.09. The hope has the deepest direct effect on social support. The indirect effect of hope to life of quality through social support is 0.048(0.54X0.09), the overall effect is 0.605. The mediating effect of social support to hope and life of quality is insignificant. The reason might be related to the characteristic of aborigines, which is that the supporting power inside the group is strong yet among different groups there is no close tie. The result of this study shows the understanding of indigenous elderly in hope, social support and life of quality, and analyzes the disparity in hope, social support and life of quality among the indigenous elderly of different groups and related factors. It will help schools and hospitals in relevant in-service education plan for the senior and government in welfare policy-making for old aborigines. The study suggests that the old aborigines be trained for volunteer work, serving those aborigines in rural area, inter-group social support set in place, a social support system accessible at any time for more indigenous elderly be created. The source of social support will breed higher hope and better senior life of quality.
