Study Method: This is a descriptive research- a cross-sectional study. Samples from 131 postpartum women were collected from the postpartum wards that are affiliated with regional teaching hospitals in Southern Taiwan. Study Design: Using cross section, descriptive, and quantitative research method, Questionnaire including “Basic Information Survey,” “Maternal Confidence Questionnaire,” and “Perceivd Stress Scale.” Result: 1.There are significant differences in Maternal confidence from different postpartum facilities. Those that choose to have postpartum care at home scored 54.8±10.63, which is higher than those mothers that choose to stay at postpartum care facilities, with an score of 52.25±13.89, which has a significant difference of p<.05. 2.Study target consist of basic properties and scores from Maternal confidence from mothers. Results significantly showed those that provide nighttime “rooming-in” scored t=2.82, p<.01, and mothers with assistance in postpartum care scored t=-2.16, p<.05. Thus represented that mothers who choose postpartum care at home and nighttime “rooming-in” has a significantly higher score in confidence in childcare. 3.There is no significant difference in Perceived stress score among women with postpartum recovery in difference places. 4.Factors related to mother’s confidence in childcare is nighttime “rooming-in,” which indicates that confidence is higher from mothers that had nighttime “rooming-in” than those that didn’t. Clinical Application & Suggestions: 1. Other than following up breastfeeding conditions from mothers, suggest obstetric health educator include psychological evaluation, and have support system from professionals in order to minimize the chances of postpartum depression. 2. Suggest providing actual simulation, common Q&A videos that can answer to some common questions about newborn care, and held a newborn care conference before mothers are discharged. Learning more about neonatal care and behavior can benefit mothers when they return home and care for their newborn. 3.In order to provide more options upon choosing a postpartum care facility for expecting mothers, suggest including the pros and cons of the location in the medical care decision method. 4.For those that are undertaking research in the field of postpartum care, suggest future researchers to investigate by using qualitative research method, and have an extensive understanding in correlation between mother’s confidence in childcare and pressure perception.
