Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士在職專班 === 104 === This study aims at developing a set of adaptive reading comprehension tests for grade 7th students in Taiwan. The participants were 535 7th graders recruited from various regions in Taiwan. The data were analyzed by examining reliabilities and validities; the classical test theory; and the 3PL model of Item Response Theory(IRT). The results showed that:
1. The Cronbach’s α of the test was 0.947, showing good internal consistency.
2. When the data were analyzed by the classical test theory, the discrimination index was good and the difficulty index was within the range of medium.
3. The outcome of the 3PL analysis showed that the discrimination coefficients of the test were between 0.460~2.929 with an average value of 1.744; the difficulty coefficients of the test were between -0.757~1.309 with an average value of 0.285; the guessing coefficients of the test were between 0.126~0.361 with an average value of 0.236. All values are within normal ranges.
4. In the present study, all subjects reached the criteria of the test discontinuation at the 14th item, which suggested that the test estimate English reading comprehension ability effectively and efficiently.
5. 94.5% of the resource class is in the lower range for this test.
