Learn some Portuguese military technology form them, such as Portuguese canon casting and ship building. However, it was too late to produce enough cannon or ship for the conflict in 1521. But they were ready in 1522 (嘉靖元年), the Ming Dynasity officer had enough Portuguese cannon to win this battle. In China, this kind of Portuguese cannon was called Fo-lang-chi cannon (Breech-loading swivel gun). Although there were two different technology introduced in to China, most scholar today shows more interest on the cannon part, but the ship building. With Longjiang Chuanchang Jhih(《龍江船廠志》) and other document, it was quite easy to realize that Wugongchuan (Centipede ship) was built under the understanding of Portuguese ship building technology. But the way these document talk about Wugongchuan wasn’t enough to understand the difference between Wugongchuan and the other galley type ship in Ming Dynasity. However, by the material and parts list in Nanchun Ji(《南船紀》), it gives us a chance to sort out the different between Wugongchuan and the origin galley type ship in Ming Dynasity. Also, by the list, we could figure out why it can’t last for long. After Wugongchuan fading out, what did Chinese Navy use to cover the area where Wugongchuan was built for.
