Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 航運管理學系 === 104 === This thesis focuses on the performance appraisal of the international logistic service providers with the aid of data envelopment analysis to provide output-oriented efficiencies for all decision making units. With Malmquist productivity index, the changes in total factor productivity across different time periods can also be revealed. The decision making units (DMUs) adopted are the top 10 companies from the world top 50 international logistic service providers. The CCR and BCC models in DEA are used to evaluate the output-oriented efficiencies of the DMUs. Also, the MPI is used to evaluate the productivity changes. Data from 2010 to 2014 is collected for the target companies. Assets, full time employee, personnel expenses are used as input variables; EBIT and revenue are used as output variables. The result of the research reveals that the cause of the inefficiency of the international logistic service providers comes from the inefficiency in scale. Although the companies pursue high market share and expansion of business scale, the study finds that the companies that grow in scale efficiency do not have the highest revenue and employees. This study concludes that the rule for satisfying the customers’ need and enhancing the operation performance is the ability of response to change, customization, and improvement of the operation systems. Moreover, the influence of the performance of international logistic companies comes from the profession and usage in human resource and system facilities. How to maximize the profit with the least resource is the right direction that the international logistic service providers should be oriented.
