Based on its content, this creation explored environmental changes of city ecology. By representing living situations of different kinds of birds in my paintings, I dealt with those difficult issues of dependent relationships between city ecology and human being. Within such a changing city environment, I looked for harmonious melodies of respecting lives and nature. These were main themes of this project. Also, this creation incorporated my learning and lived experiences in the past, and documented and analyzed my recent lives and personal subjective thinking. These led to my exploration of realistic ecology paintings, and helped settle down forms and contents of this creation and put reflexive creation into practice. The starting point of my creation research, Something about Birds, was my motivation. In order to discuss this motivation and the purpose of my creation, I situated those environmental protection issues that I wanted to examine within the relationships between birds, living in and/or around cities, and city ecology. Also, I made up my methodology and research procedure according to the sequence of action research—observation, plan, action, and reflection etc. In terms of creation form, there were two of them—“figurative and realistic expression” and “reconstructed realistic image.” It meat that I either literally expressed, in my works, images that I perceived and/or imagined, or deconstructed and then reconstructed them through my oil paintings. In the end, I established correspondence between those vulnerable birds’ bodies and changing environment of city ecology, which was the main course of my creation. Through this creation process, I untangled my respect towards those little birds and my gratefulness towards earth that nurtured lives. Additionally, this series of works showed viewers my protest against people’s ignorance of environmental protection issues of cities.
