Through semi-structured interviewing method, the author interviewed three non-specialized teachers who taught social studies through combined teaching within two years in Taitung County. Through these interviews, the author aims at acquiring information relating to the predicaments possibly faced by non-specialized teachers of social studies in terms of preparation before teaching, teaching process and assessment after teaching. Through experience of the interviewees, the author hopes to give advice to new non-specialized teachers of social studies. It is hoped that, through these advice, the teachers will be able to improve teaching efficiency and finish the task of non-specialized teaching, which poses great pressure, under balanced physical and mental states. Based on the results, the conclusions are drawn as follows: 1. In Taitung County, many small-sized classes exist in junior high schools, and there are also many small-sized junior high schools. For this reason, adoption of combined teaching of social studies has become the common practice. 2. Teachers generally do not like to teach any subject which they are not specialized in. 3. Non-specialized teaching results in the fact that teachers are faced with predicaments in terms of lesson preparation, teaching process and answering questions from students. 4. Teachers have their respective methods to deal with and prepare for non-specialized teaching. 5.
